Farewell, Windows 10 — End of Life Coming October 14, 2025

After a full decade of service, Windows 10 is finally reaching its end of life on October 14, 2025.
Released on July 29, 2015, it became one of Microsoft’s most widely deployed operating systems — bridging the gap between Windows 7 and the new cloud-driven Windows 11 ecosystem.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
True, but Microsoft will soon stop fixing it for you.

What EOL Means

  • No more security updates or bug fixes after October 14, 2025.
  • Unsupported systems will be more vulnerable to exploits.
  • Some software vendors (like Intuit and others) are already dropping Windows 10 support.
  • Extended Security Updates (ESU) will be available only for enterprise customers — and at a cost.

What You Should Do Now

  • Check hardware compatibility for Windows 11 or newer systems.
  • Start planning migrations early — especially for offices still relying on Windows 10 workstations.
  • Upgrade key applications to ensure full support under Windows 11.
  • If your devices can’t upgrade, consider virtualization or lightweight Linux environments as a bridge solution.

For MSPs and IT Administrators

This is a great time to review:

  • Asset lifecycle policies
  • Patch management
  • Compliance requirements (HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
  • User awareness campaigns (“No, Karen, Windows 10 isn’t eternal.”)

R.I.P. Windows 10 (2015 – 2025)
You served well. We’ll miss those tiles… sort of.
